| Jack's Blogging Tips - If you are a good blogger, your posts are sure to rile your readers. Be prepared for emotionally charged comments and always use restraint when responding to them. Pause before you hit submit. You never want to regret what you wrote to your readers.
- Its always nice to leave comments on other blogs, but don't blatantly promote yourself, especially if the topic is unrelated to you. Comments should never appear "spammy" or else they will be ignored or even deleted.
- Be mindful of your online reputation. You are putting yourself on the line with every move you make on the Internet. Even if you're blogging or commenting under a pseudonym, there are possibilities that you will be found out one day. Always use discretion, especially when posting images of yourself.
- Blogs are no different than any small business- you need a marketing or publicity plan in place to really succeed. Start by spreading the word. Make it a point to tell at least 10-20 people a week about your blog, including family, friends and colleagues and followers on social communities. You'll be surprised at how fast people flock to your site.
Don't forget to check out Bending The Web. It will open your eyes to a whole different way of getting high search rankings and direct, targeted traffic to your site! Sincerely, -Jack Humphrey |
